Before joining SCWS in 2001, Esther was a founding class teacher at the Portland (OR) Waldorf School and worked for over a decade at the Rudolf Steiner School of Ann Arbor, Michigan, where her two children received their Waldorf education. Esther was raised in Seattle and attended Western Washington University, focusing on child development. She earned her BA and Waldorf teaching certificate from Rudolf Steiner College in 1983. She’s completed professional development courses on Educational Support, and also enjoys sharing her skills in collaboration and healthy communication while utilizing such resources as Restorative Practices and Mindfulness in the Classroom. She’s a certified Massage Practitioner and a Parent Coach. Other interests include playing violin, enjoying nature with family & friends, and exploring new ideas around imagination, inspiration and intuition.
